Rolf Marti (PhD) is the head of the Research, Innovation and Development department and a member of the Managing Board at the Swiss Cancer League (SCL). He is also the Director of the Swiss Cancer Research (SCR) foundation, where the Health Services Research program – dedicated to strengthening oncological health care services in Switzerland – was initiated.
He studied biology at the ETH Zurich followed by a PhD thesis and postdoctoral studies on a molecular biology issue at the University of Melbourne. Upon his return to Switzerland, he worked in the technology assessment group of the Swiss Science Council and later on at the Swiss Academy of Sciences before he joined the partner organizations SCL / SCR. Overseeing the funding activities of both organizations to ensure funding of high quality cancer research projects is one of his priorities. Dr. Marti and his group are also responsible for elaborating scientific evidence for public affairs and communication issues as well as for measuring quality in oncology, cancer screening programs, and emerging topics such as equal access to cancer medicine and strengthening research policy, mainly within Switzerland’s National Cancer Plan.
